Combining art with practicality, enjoy a day with Sandra D Moore* while she teaches you the techniques of Porcupine Quill art. In this class you will make your own personal key chain.  Sandra will share her knowledge of harvesting quills, harvesting birch bark, as well as dyeing and storing quills and much more.  All supplies and tools are provided.  This ancient Anishnaabe art form is at risk of being lost if not shared.

*Sandra D Moore, Anishnaabe kwe from Hiawatha First Nation, can be found using her hands to create the work she loves, either teaching or filling orders.  In the 32+ years she worked, she dreamed of a day when she would create art full-time! She has been doing quillwork for only 10 years, and caribou hair tufting since 2017 just before she and her husband left Dawson City, Yukon after having lived there for more than a year.  An avid teacher with a flare for public speaking, Sandra is dedicated to teaching these arts. She travels to many First Nation and other communities as well as conducting classes in her home teaching space.  “It does me no good to know these dying arts if I don’t teach others”.
